Not as simple as that Nelson...They are a 28 day RSL (restricted Service Licence) Station, which means they are allowed to be there cause they bought a licence that lasts 28days. I'm afraid ya just gonna have to be patient...

Dynamix, can't Shine buy the 87.9 license for in and around the London area...
Also another question you might be able to put to rest is, why every now and then Shine scrambles and we loose signal???!!

Yes Nelson,
The thing is - Look what happened to Kiss when they turned into a legal station...
The other thing is - they don't just hand out licences to anyone who can afford it..Even if we could...
I don't know how much a years London licence on the FM band is, but I recon its near the million mark..
The other thing is if you listen to all pirate stations, the signal is never as near as as strong as the legals, simply because of the power their tranmitters push.

Were in southend so in places in the car i can get shine ok....but at home its on the net for us....
1 thing to say!! what is wrong with this country when they give a 28 day license to a station that is the worst sound quality ever with a buzz!! and i think we all know the DTI wouldnt grant any popular UKg stations a license but an asian station is ok yeah???
1 thing would a british ukg station get a license in india or wherever??...

The RSL is broadcasting from the Gravesend area, the power and height of the aerial are restricted, normally the aerial can only be at a height of 20 metres above sea level and just 10 watts power! Normally Pirates would have the aerial on a tower block much higher and the power would also be at least 10 times the power of the RSL.
I believe this group are trying for a fulltime radio station in Gravesend.
Shine FM is using a frequency that is designated for RSL's, this means being a pirate from time to time they will have to put up with this. On the plus side they are on a frequency that most of the time would not normally have any other stations nearby, unlike most other pirate stations on the dial that may have to be next to stations putting out many thousands of watts.
The truth of the matter is that the dial is mainly full for stations in London, because to have a good clear signal you need to have adequate space between stations, frequency planning is a very complex subject, so any pirate is going to have problems in parts of London.
